Advanced Medical Solutions, AGS in sole distribution agreement LONDON (AFX) - Advanced Medical Solutions Group PLC said it has signed an agreement with AGS Laboratories Inc of Texas where AGS has taken over sole distribution for its SpyroflexR range of consumer first aid dressings and has rights to acquire the associated trademark. The SpyroflexR brand name was acquired by Advanced Medical Solutions in 1999 and comprises a range of products for the treatment of cuts, grazes, minor bleeding wounds and blisters based on proprietary polyurethane membrane technology, it added. Under this new deal, AGS will now sell and distribute the range into both markets in the U.S., it said. Advanced Medical Solutions added it retains the patents for the products and will continue to develop and manufacture the complete product range. AGS will build the brand and has the right to acquire the SpyroflexR trademark for a total consideration of 450,000 stg subject to achieving minimum annual sales volumes. | |

21/2/01 08:53 GMT Advanced Medical Solutions awarded 130 mln stg grant by universities LONDON (AFX) - Advanced Medical Solutions Group PLC said it has been awarded grants totalling 130 mln stg from the Universities of Aston and Glasgow, in support of the company's research on tissue engineering. It said the grants will be used to investigate cell-fibre interactions. Advanced Medical solutions will develop cell-fibre scaffolds for a project entitled "Nanobiotechnology and Medicine" in consortium with the University of Glasgow, financed under the European Framework V Scheme, it said. tw/rn | |

Shares in Advanced Medical Solutions have jumped on news that the group has agreed a collaboration deal with Johnson & Johnson to supply a patented calcium alginate-based material for inclusion in some products for the US and Canadian consumer market. Don Evans, chief executive of AMS, said: "We are extremely pleased to be working with as strong a partner as Johnson & Johnson Consumer Products Company and this collaboration further enhances our position in the important American consumer products market. We are committed to launching innovative new products and this collaboration enables us to bring further enhanced value products into the market." |
